The gallery over at Therapy has been a little quite lately but I did find something that has inspired me to do my scrap journal for this year today. I have one for each year that I write down the details for each layout so that if I am lucky enough to get something published I know just what has been used on it and where I have got it posted. Lol it is a few weeks into the year and I haven't done one yet.

Blind scrapping is back

Easter Tuesday, 26th April - 8.00pm (Sydney time)

You will need:
1 portrait 6x4 photo
I've cut the figure out of mine - but the full pic is great too!

3 double-sided papers -
You will use both sides of each, one needs to be quite dark as this will be your border. The others I have a mix of plain side and muted patterns in pastels. If you dont want to do double-sided, then have 3 single papers and scraps. All in all they need to work all together pattern and colour-wise to your taste.

Trims and laces
These need to vary in length between 8-10inches. How many doesnt matter but when laid out horizontally, one under the other, the depth should be about 4 1/2inches.

2 lengths of string or twine - approx 11 inch and 12 inch

Alpha or title
Mine is a chipboard title of 'Happy Easter' which I painted beforehand

5 small buttons

Embellies
Choose what will go with our LO, I've got a little bunny and chicken diecut (cut from a cricut I think) and a journaling spot if you dont want to write directly onto your LO.

Distresser.

40 today, Tara got me a black forrest cake - my favorite - I scrapped last night and had every intention of doing some more today but it just didnt happen - got busy doing birthday things, lunch at the pub, swim at the boulders, dinner with friends and then a couple of hours trying to work off the dinner etc on the Wi Fit - there are some fun new games on the new version

I love it when new alphas show up - it give me incentive to dig thru my unfinished projects and see if there is something special that is jut what I have been looking for - here is the end result for todays digging session, and of course - you guessed it - new thickers have arrived at Scraptherapy. These guys are from the Fantastic range of Foam thickers and you can find them instore now along with a bundle of other great thickers.

Today in the crop room

Well the crop room was due to be filled to overflowing today but road cuts and flooding saw me with just two girls to play with, so thanks Janet and Heather for your company - it was lovely to get to sit down and scrap. Here is what I created up with some of the new toys in the crop room. The challenge to myself on this one was NO PATTERNED PAPER - wow that was harder than I thought it would be - it is a while since I have used only cardstock.

Maybe my next challenge will be a FLAT layout with 4 photos - mmm

Make it Monday - Quick "use what you have" cards, by Lisa Pate

I reaslise that some of you are very organised card makers and have a nice big stash of ready made cards to use at any moment. Yeah, you are the good girls. Me I never have any at hand and constantly make a "quick we are leaving in 10 mins" card!!!

So I wanted to show you how quick and easy it is to put together TWO cards, with what you already have on your desk in less than 10 mins. EASY!!

Firstly, you will need your basic supplies. Trimmer, adhesive and scraps of cardstock and patterned paper (I always have PLENTY of these on my desk! Regardless if it "matched" I just piled it all up!

Then I cut two card bases from white cardstock, that was on my desk too!!

They were both different sizes... no drama!

Next grabbed my Prima Masks and some ink. I rubbed the ink over the mask for the first card

With the mask still in place I gave the card a squirt of glimmer mist , and gently lifted off the mask.

There was a good layer of inky misty goodness on the mask, so I flipped it over and put the inky side down on the other card

and was left with this cool background

Next I cut strips of patterned paper as well as punching out two strips with a decorative punch and attached these to my cards

Then I added some trims, both different

Flowers from Prima were added next and buttons too

To finish off I added some canvas tags by Basic Grey

Finally my mixed up, un-matching cards were finished and it only took 10 mins!!!

August at Scraptherapy has been all about things handmade. Fussy cutting, hand stitching, crochet and making flowers. The gallery has been FILLED with so many wonderful crafty creations.

Make It Monday Fussy Cutting With Helen Jolly

This weeks Make It Monday i will be doing one of the things i love most and thats fussy cutting

Now dont go freaking out on me !!!!

Step 1
Choose a paper that has good cutting potential

Step 2
Cut out the part that you will need
It will make it easier than having a big piece of paper to try and work with

Step 3
Make sure you have a good pair of sharp pointy scissors and start cutting

Step 4
you should end up with something like this
If not keep practicing!
I try to not cut ON the piece i want i try to leave a bit of a border around it so you can see the whole image

Here are some other cards i have done with fussy cutting.......

Hints

When attaching to cards or LOs i use double sided foam or silicone to give it that 3D look

You can also add Glossy Accents or simular to give them a lovely shiney look

Give it a go girls you never know you might just enjoy it!!!!

Make It Monday........2 layer flower

Who doesn't love flowers?!

And making them by hand are fun and appreciative once you know how.

Here's a little step by step on how to make the flower I've made in this layout.

This flower is made with 2 layers. I've used a piece of cardstock and a piece of patterned paper on top of each other. The square I've started with is approximately 8cms square and I've drawn a spiral shape onto it.

Cut out the spiral, cutting through both the sheets of paper until you get to the middle and leave a 10cm circle shape.
Ink the outer edges of both spirals and if you wish you can slightly turn over the outer edges also.

Starting with the outer end of the spiral, twist it around on itself until you've reached the 10cm circle piece at the end. Place a dollop of glue on the circle piece and press down the twisted flower on top of it and hold for a bit till it takes.

It may unravel a little bit but thats perfect and what we want it to do, as it will still form the flower with a little more space in between each petal.

Once dry you can use it on your layout or Off The Page project.

I've used Bella See Thruz, Ruby Rock It Rub Ons, American Craft Thickers for the flower in my layout. The See Thruz is the top layer.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and that you will give it a go.

Make it Monday - Simple paper piecing

When I first started scrapping about 10 years ago, paper piecing was very popular. I think it came from the fact that there were no ready made embellishments so people started making their own. From elaborate torn teddy bears to paper dolls and beach scenes, it was definitely popular. Once scrapping became really popular, manufacturers started making embellishments and for many of us it was the start of the love affair we still with our ready made products.

Lately though with everything crafty and handmade coming back into vogue, paper piecing is making a comeback. It has evolved from the cutesy designs of yesterday into funky and whimsical and I have enjoyed dabbling with it again.

You can draw your designs freehand, find paper piecings online or use clipart images or childrens colouring-in books. Next time you are looking for the perfect something to add to your page, why not try paper piecing.

I'll show you a super simple way to make a cute tree

Step 1

Use a circle punch or scalloped circle punch to make the "leaves"

Step 2

Draw a freehand trunk onto the back of some brown cardstock

Step 3

Cut out the trunk

Step 4

Put some adhesive onto the back of the tree branches then stick on top of your circle

Step 5

Make the tree stand out by outlining the tree in felt tipped pen. You could also use ink or chalks to add the definition

Step 6

Stick some buttons to the tree to represent fruit

Make it Monday - A little handmade love

This month at Scraptherapy we are all about lovely handmade goodness. From crafting to cooking we are loving getting back to making things with our own hands, and giving our papercrafts a lovely handmade feel.

To kick start the month, I wanted to show you something that has been featuring on my layouts quite a bit. I need to add first that I can't actually crochet, knit yes!! but crochet, NOPE. I just can't get it. I CAN crochet a string of chain stitch though :) and so can you.

I love the look I get when I add the chain to my layouts, it's soft and flexable and adds lots of texture. Perfect for a handmade look.

SO lets get started.

Grab some yarn and a hook. I used some cotton yarn, and a smallish hook (see I really don't know much about crochet!!!)

Make a slip stictch with your yarn

Pop your hook in, yarn over and pull through

and keep repeating till you have as long a length as you need

Add to your layout!!!! I used good old Pritt Gel in a few spots to stick mine down, you could also use staples or a few handstiches to hold it in place.

Eventhough 'Eerie' is a Halloween range, there are some fabulous papers there that can be used for other layouts - and it's double sided too.

The Christmas Range, 'Eskimo Kisses', is just so soft and beautiful.

And there are lots and lots of old favourites too. Have you noticed that the 'plain' Basic Grey papers are fabulous for using as background papers on your layouts instead of using cardstock. There are so many to choose from as every range has about 3 or 4 - that's a huge colour choice. I think my favourite 'bright' range would have to be 'Urban Prairie' and the colours in 'Scarlet's Letter' are right up there for me too.

Monday night is Allie's class - a fabulous acrylic album. If you haven't got the kit yet, you can still pop it in your cart, chat along during the class, and make it up a bit later on.

On Monday 28th September, Allie's got a great class lined up. For anyone who thought acrylic albums were too difficult or tricky, this one is for you! Be sure to pop a kit into your cart and play along on the night, or do it later. This is a great project for any male in your life.

If you are into Blind Scrapping (or haven't tried one before), be sure to pop in on Wednesday 30th September at 8pm when I'll be leading you step-by-step through a Blind Scrap. It might sound a bit strange if you haven't done one before, but why not play along and see what it's all about. These are always good for a bit of fun and laughter.

.... think of the old Quilting Circles, where the girls got together to craft and chat and sometimes even vent a little - Add the modern technology of computers, and spread those friends all over the world and presto - you have a forum. Forums are a place where we can all get together and catch up, find out a little about each other and get some great ideas. We have regular monthly challenges and lots of chances to win great prizes.

So if you are you looking for some inspiration, or want to make some new lifetime friends why not join our friendly forum and chat with the ladies that share the same passion and interests as you. The Forum is full of lots of wonderful, friendly people, happy to chat about your scrapping and non-scrapping topics and the Gallery is brimming with heaps of wonderful ideas to inspire you.

We are lucky enough to have a very active and daily expanding forum full of loads of free information. The downside of this is it can be a bit daunting. If you have never joined a forum before, we are only to happy to guide you. BUT be warned - forums are extremely addictive! Be prepared to share, laugh and vent! Be prepared to be challenged, to challenge and to learn. Be prepared to meet friends and have fun. It’s just the sort of therapy we all need!

So don't be timid, drop in and say HI and before you know it you will be part of the family.

This month we have a PROduct of the month- and it's Alphabets!

We have reduced the price of all our alphas and they are literally flying out the door! Yesterday we uploaded a selection of Carolee's Creation Tiny Alpha stickers that we have been waiting on for ages.... and some of them are nearly all sold in out in only 12 hours!

The reductions even extend to the brand new glitter thickers that recently arrived from American Craft! Some sold out within the day, but we have more on the way! The "Lullabye" cipboard glitter thickers are amazing!!
